PEI’s Lucas MacDonald earns Silver Medal

Lucas Macdonald earned Prince Edward Island’s first medal at the 2023 Canada Winter Games.

The 17-year-old Stratford resident claimed silver in the 81-plus-kilogram division during the judo competition March 2, before a packed Prince Edward Island Convention Centre in Charlottetown.  Canada Games coach Matthew McGrath said MacDonald had great performances all day, and they knew the gold medal match would be a tough one.

Macdonald has been involved in the sport for seven years. He is a member of the Rikidokan Judo Club where his coach is Allan MacDonald.
