Alexsa Matheson
April 30, 2026

April 2026 – Alexsa Matheson delivered an outstanding month of competition, representing both the Island Wrestling Academy and the Rikidokan Judo Club. Competing at the Eastern Canadian Judo Championships in Edmundston, NB, Matheson posted a perfect 2-0 record to capture a gold medal. She carried that momentum into the Canadian Wrestling Championships in Grande Prairie, AB, where she secured a pair of podium finishes. Matheson claimed gold in the U19 61kg Greco-Roman division and added a bronze medal in the U19 61kg freestyle category, capping off an impressive month of multi-discipline performances.

Summerside Western Capitals
March 31, 2026

March 2026 – The Summerside Western Capitals earned a first-place finish in their 45th franchise regular season and defeated the Amherst Ramblers in an exciting 7-game series to open the MHL playoffs! The Capitals were the top scoring team in the league with 232 goals, equating to $2,320 in donations from Dairy Farmers of PEI through the SCORES for KidSport campaign.

February 2026 – After claiming her fourth-straight OUA gold early in the month, Brock’s Vanessa Keefe become the fourth Island wrestler to win U Sports gold, joining her sister Veronica and Brock alumni Hannah Taylor & Ligrit Sadiku by earning top spot in the 68kg division!

January 2026 – Lilly MacVicar had a great start to her freshman track and field season, winning the 300m and finishing 2nd in the 60m at Athletics NS Meet. She repeated as 300m champ and took 4th at 60m at the NB Indoor & University Invitational.

December 2025 – Mark Arendz began his 2025-26 IBU World Cup season claiming gold in all three of his events – 7.7km, 12.5km, and Sprint Pursuit – as he prepares for his fifth Paralympic Games!
U17 Girls PEI FC

October 2025 – The Under-17 Girls PEI FC team battled through a series of one-goal matchups including a quarterfinal shootout win to earn runners-up at the U-17 Cup becoming the second PEI soccer team to reach a National youth final!
