NCW Andrew Garth Soccer

We are so excited to celebrate National Coaches Week! We have received so many coaching nominations and can’t wait to share them with you. Follow along to see why these coaches are so great!

Andrew Garth – U13 Kensington and Area soccer club

What is an important skill that this coach has that makes them a great coach?

His practices are always fun and purposeful. He puts time into planning them, they flow from one drill to the next, there is no time wasted, he demonstrates and participates, and everyone always laughs and has a good time as well.

What lesson(s) has this coach instilled in you/athletes/or others?

Never give up, he doesn’t give up on his team ever. Down our two captains for the championship game and he had the same attitude as always, we can do this and not to give up.

Pick 3 words that describes this coach. Explain why you chose each word.

Dedicated – He was always there for the girls. Experienced – He knew how to take each player and change small things to adjust their plays. Attitude – He always showed up with a positive attitude. Win or Lose he kept the girls positive.

Write a memory or story about this coach, that impressed you.

After losing two key players to injury in the semi-final, our team was discouraged. Drew would not give up on them and adjusted the players so no one was stressed. They had a great attitude going into the game and held their own. Drew stayed calm and cool the entire time, even in the penalty shoot-out. The team came home with gold medals, for a team who had never gotten to this point before, it was an amazing experience.

Thank you for all that you do! Make sure to say ‘Thanks Coach’ to a special coach in your life!
