50 Years of Sport PEI Awards – Lorie Kane
The 2023 Sport PEI awards will be our 50th edition! To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to take a look back at those who have received the Lieutenant Governor’s award as PEI’s top athlete of the year.
Lorie Kane – 1988, 1991 – Golf
Lorie Kane won the Lieutenant Governor’s award in 1988 and 1991 for her accomplishments on the golf course. Kane would win the P.E.I Women’s Amateur Championship in 1988, a tournament she won every year from 1983-1992 with the exception of 1986. In 1991, Lorie would win her first tournament as an amateur on the international level at the Mexico Amateur Championship. In 1991, Kane would also represent Canada on the World stage as she would compete with Team Canada for the Commonwealth Trophy in Northumberland, England.
