May 1 – Noah Dobson named to men’s roster for IIHF World Hockey Championships in Sweden & Denmark.
May 1 – Vanessa Keefe named to the Senior National Wrestling team to compete at Pan-Am Championships. First senior international appearance.
May 3 – Brett Gallant, with partner Jocelyn Peterson, qualifies to represent Canada in Mixed Doubles Curling at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Italy.
May 3 – Megumi Wells (U14F under 52kg), Eva Johnston (U18F – under 70kg), Mykola Opyakin (SrM under 81kg), Dawson McDermid (U12M under 46kg), and Timor Inozemtsev (U14M over 66kg) win their divisions at Atlantic Judo Championships in Halifax.
May 4 – Alysha Corrigan wins Rugby Sevens World Championship bronze medal with Team Canada.
May 4 – Team PEI U18 hockey earns silver medal at U18 Female Atlantic Challenge Cup.
May 4 – Karate athletes combine for 11 medals at Montreal International Open:
- Gold (2) – Evalyn Farrell (Beginner + Intermediate Kata 14-15) & Samhita Dhanasekar (Intermediate Kumite 14-15 +55 kg)
- Silver (5) – Rowyn Reed-Jones (Advanced Women’s Kata 14-15), Peter Le (Advanced Kata 14-15), Emelie Farrell (Intermediate Kata 12-13), Samhita Dhanasekar (Beginner and Intermediate Kata 14-15), & Euan Reed-Jones (Beginner Kata 10-11)
- Bronze (4) – Toni Campbell (Advanced Kata 16-17), Sacha Lewis-Parent (Advanced Kata 12-13 & Intermediate Kumite 12-13 -47 kg), Loane Lewis-Parent (Advanced Kumite 16-17 -68 kg)
May 6 – Rayner Glenn commits to play USPORTS basketball at Carleton University.
May 8 – Alex Nicholson commits to play AUS men’s volleyball at Dalhousie.
May 9 – Vanessa Keefe finishes sixth at Senior Pan-Am Wrestling Championships in Monterrey, Mexico.
May 9 – Ellie Mullins finishes four-game series with Team Canada U18 development team against U18 French National Team in Carquefou, France.
May 10 – Marin Sobey finishes in eighth place at the 2025 World Triathlon Cup in Chengdu with time of 1:40:06.
May 13 – Lydia Hamill and Juliette Bader commit to play for Austin Rise FC as part of The Soccer Tournament (TST), a high stakes 7v7 world championship.
May 14 – Morgan Jardine named the 2024 Special Olympics North America Rising Star – Community Award Winner
May 15 – Luke Coughlin signs with University of Maine to play NCAA Division 1 Men’s Hockey.
May 18 – U19 Girls Team PEI earn silver medal and U16 Boys earn bronze medal at Flag Football Elite Nationals in Kingston, Ontario. U19F silver sets record for PEI’s best finish at a Nationals.
May 18 – U15 Provincial Lacrosse team wins Harvey Highlanders Tournament in New Brunswick.
May 18 – Three PEI softball teams – Island Prospects (u13), PEI Whitecaps (u15 playing in u17 division), and Canada Games team (u17 playing in Open division) – win gold in their divisions at the Moncton Classic.
May 18 – Charlottetown Naiads Artistic Swimming Club 11-12 provincial and 11-12 novice teams captured first place in their respective divisions at the Atlantic regional championships.
May 18 – Lucas Macdonald earns a bronze medal at the National Open Judo Championships in Calgary in the U21 -90kg division. Sandra MacDonald serves as event official.
May 18 – U15 Team PEI basketball wins the Lumber Mill Tournament championship in Wolfville, NS.
May 19 – PEI Prospects girls soccer team wins U13 AA division at the Allt Memorial Tournament in Halifax.
May 22 – Noah Dobson and Team Canada eliminated in quarter-finals at IIHF Men’s Hockey championships; Dobson finishes with 4 points in 8 games.
May 24 – Barb Carmichael (field hockey), Howard Watts (Boxing), and Barb Mullaly (university sport) officially inducted into PEI Sports Hall of Fame in the builders category.
May 25 – PEI Canada Games basketball teams both finish second in their respective divisions at Red Rock Classic in Charlottetown.
May 26 – Shannon MacAulay (strength & conditioning coach) wins PWHL championship as part of the Minnesota Frost.
May 30 – Mitchel White commits to play AUS football at St. Francis Xavier University.
May 31 – Nicholas DesRoche to officiate in the Junior International Cup and the Select Bowl, both taking place June 19–23 in Los Angeles, organized by USA Football.
