50 Years of Sport PEI Awards – Sheila MacQuarrie

LtGovernor Award - sheila macquarrie

The 2023 Sport PEI awards will be our 50th edition! To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to take a look back at those who have received the Lieutenant Governor’s award as PEI’s top athlete of the year.

Sheila MacQuarrie – Shooting – 1983

Sheila MacQuarrie won the Lieutenant Governor’s award in 1983 for her accomplishments in the sport of shooting. Sheila had a very successful year in 1983, as she competed in ten national competitions where she would either finish in first or second place. Due to the great successes that Sheila had earned for herself, she was selected to take part as a member of team Canada at the Pan American Games in Caracas, Venezuela. At the Pan American Games, Sheila would win the bronze medal, marking her first time winning an international medal.
