The 2023 Sport PEI awards will be our 50th edition! To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to take a look back at those who have received the Lieutenant Governor’s award as PEI’s top athlete of the year.

David Ling – 1995 – Hockey

David Ling won the Lieutenant Governor’s award in 1995 for his play with the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League. During the season, Ling would score 61 goals and have 74 assists for a total regular season point effort of 135. Ling would finish the season 2nd in the scoring race, while leading his team to a first place finish in the East Division and 40 wins.
