Statement on Future of True Sport PEI

With the recent announcement that the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport (CCES) will be moving on move on from the work they have historically done with the True Sport brand and focusing on its overall mandate as an independent regulator of sport integrity, Sport PEI would like to reaffirm our commitment to supporting and promoting values-based sport.
While we hope to see True Sport live on under a new umbrella nationally as the CCES searches for an organization to pass on the baton to, Sport PEI plans to continue offering support and programming for values-based sport under our own “Rooted in Values” brand, which was inspired by the True Sport movement and promotes its principles.
We would like to thank the CCES for creating, promoting, and guiding the True Sport movement and its many valuable resources, stories, and champions. We wish the CCES the best of luck with the launch of the Canadian Safe Sport Program and the search for a new place True Sport can call home.
As we explore how we can best expand the Rooted in Values program, we would like to take this opportunity to hear from members of the PEI sport community who have been engaged with True Sport. We ask that you use our survey to provide your feedback or reach out to our True Sport lead Mitch Sanderson (msanderson@sportpei.pe.ca) if you like to set up a meeting to share your thoughts.
