Jan. 3 – Jenna Larter finishes fourth in 500m event at Canadian Olympic Trials; misses Olympic team, finishes season ranked 33rd in the world

Jan. 10 – Vanessa Keefe wins gold (68kg) at Brock Open Wrestling tournament
Jan. 11 – U16 Eastern Dukes win back-to-back Ice Jam championships; Colin MacCormac named Tournament MVP, Campbell Dunne named 2nd-Team All Star
Jan. 11 – Mount Academy Saints win U18 Women’s championship at Ice Jam tournament
Jan. 11 – U19 PEI Wave win AA gold at Pierrefonds Tournament in Quebec; first time PEI team has won at tournament. U19 Edge finish as runners up in A division.U14 Wave teams also finish third and fourth place.
Jan. 13 – Eddy Doyle ranked 66th among North American Skaters by NHL Central Scouting’s mid-term projections
Jan. 18 – Megan Mossey earns silver medal with Team Canada and named First-Team All-Star at U18 World Women’s Hockey Championships; finishes as team’s top scoring defencemen with 11 points in 6 games
Jan. 22 – Chad McCormack competes in 2026 Lancaster Archery Classic (Second largest indoor archery event in North America) as part of qualification journey to 2028 Paralympics
Jan. 25 – Mark Arendz named Crystal Globe winner as top overall male Para-Biathlete on the World Cup tour for fifth time in career
Jan. 25 – Blake Kingston named AUS Male Athlete of the Week after winning gold in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke as well as the 50m freestyle event at the Amby Legere Invitational in Saint John, NB
Jan. 29 – Billy McGuigan records 500th career coaching win with Summerside Capitals
Jan. 29 – Team Power finishes with 2-6 record at Scotties Tournament of Hearts with wins over NS and NL
Jan. 29 – Lauren MacEachern commits to Acadia Axewomen soccer team
Jan. 30 – East Coast Junior Lacrosse League announces new Jr. B division, including PEI’s first junior team – Island Oaks
Jan. 31 – UPEI’s Lily MacVicar finished first in 300m (39.93s) and fourth in 60m (7.89s), Isabelle MacKinnon finishes third in pentathlon, and Joel Gallant finished fifth in 3000m while setting a new school record at the NB Indoor Track & Field Championships & University Invitational
