Oct. 2 – Gordie Dwyer named assistant coach of Team CHL for 2024 CHL USA Prospects Challenge in November.

Oct. 10 – Dayna Dingwell named to the roster for Atlantic Attack of the National Ringette League.

Oct. 12 – UPEI Panthers men’s basketball wins 2024 St. FX Coach K Invitational tournament; Guard Kyree Thompson named tournament MVP & Guard Kamari Scott selected to all-star team.

Oct. 12 – Wil Fradsham, Tyffanie Bordage, Ryan Owens and Brandon Lund appointed as officials at National U17 Soccer Championships in Sydney, NS.

Oct. 13 – PEI Canada Games men’s baseball training group wins Atlantic Fall Challenge.

Oct. 13 – Hockey PEI teams compete at 27th Annual Atlantic Challenge Cup. Under-14 Male and Under-16 Female teams finish 2nd, Under-14 Female and Under-15 Male teams finish 4th.

Oct. 15 – Jill Lockerby of Dalhousie University women’s soccer team named ACAA athlete of the week following a two-goal performance against Crandall.

Oct. 16 – Lacey McLaughlin joins Field Hockey Canada’s Senior Development Team as an assistant coach for training tour and exhibition matches in Akaiwa City, Japan.

Oct. 17 – Theo Hustler of University of Maine-Augusta Moose golf team selected as USCAA 2nd Team All-American. 

Oct. 18 – Keegan MacDougall (swimming) named recipient of the regional Tom Longboat Award, recognizing Indigenous athletes for their outstanding contributions to sport in Canada.

Oct. 18 – Addison Quinn named Jays Care Youth Ambassador for 2025 season by Toronto Blue Jays.

Oct. 19  – Grace Potter finishes first in Women’s Pairs division and Women’s University 8 at the Atlantic Rowing Championships, with her respective teammates as part of the St. FX crew.

Oct. 19 – Jenna Larter wins bronze in 500m women’s division at the Canadian Long Track Speed Skating Championships.

Oct. 20 – UPEI Panthers win 2024 Atlantic University Field Hockey Championships in shootout win over Dalhousie Tigers; third straight AUFH title, advance to U Sports National Championships at York University in Toronto from Oct. 31 – Nov. 3.

Oct. 20 – Panthers midfielder Livi Lawlor named 2024 MVP of Atlantic University Field Hockey; midfielder Kali Smith & forward Kayla Batchilder named to league All-Star team. Lacey MacLaughlin named Coach of the Year. Dalhousie midfielder Molly Doyle of Auburn and Acadian defense Grace Larkin of Mermaid also named league all-stars.

Oct. 20 – PEI Marathon hosted for the 20th time. Top results from PEI athletes include:

  • Lindsay Lamrock of Suffolk (2:45:44) wins Marathon (female); sets new course record
  • Luc Gallant of Wellington (1:10:11) wins Half Marathon Run (male); sets new course record
  • Barbara MacLean of Hunter River (2:33:27) and James Boswall of Frenchfort (2:55:42) win Half Marathon Walk
  • Leanne Baglole of Charlottetown (1:10:34) wins 16K Run (female)
  • Matthew Youland of Charlottetown (2:00:08) wins 16K Walk (male)
  • June Hunter-Vautour of Charlottetown (1:14:33) wins 10K Walk (female)
  • Quixote Froese of Crapaud (16:10) and Leanne Baglole of Charlottetown (19:41) win 5K Run; Froese sets new course record
  • Rylin Dixon of Montague (38:28) and Create Lam of Stratford (41:22) win 5K Walk
  • Ryan Bulger of Charlottetown (12:51) and Dan Savoie of Summerside (12:52) finish 1st and 2nd in 2K Wheelchair Race

Oct. 22 – Mia Fradsham of UPEI Panthers rugby wins AUS Student-Athlete Community Service Award. PEI athletes Katie Murphy of St FX, Katie Douglas of St FX, and Paige MacLean of UPEI named AUS All-Stars.

Oct. 22 – UPEI head coach Forbes MacPherson named as assistant coach with Canadian men’s hockey team at the 2025 FISU Winter World University Games from January 13-23 in Italy.

Oct. 23 – Riad Jaha of UPEI Panthers men’s soccer team selected as AUS 2nd-Team All-Star defender.

Oct. 23 – Marleigh-Jayne Smallwood wins AUS Rugby championship as part of Acadia Axewomen team.

Oct. 25 – Maggie Mullins of University of Toronto Varsity Blues field hockey named OUA First-Team All-Conference defender.

Oct. 26 – Hayden Chaisson of Holland Hurricanes soccer selected to ACAA First-Team All-Conference; Georgia Doucette named to Second-Team All-Conference.

Oct. 26 – Cam Schurman of Dalhousie Rams soccer wins ACAA Rookie of the Year.

Oct. 27 – Olivia Lea of Holland Hurricanes rugby wins ACAA Rookie of the Year and selected to ACAA All-Conference team; Annik Whitten also selected to All-Conference team.

Oct. 19 – Morgan Jardine wins Special Olympics Canada’s Rising Star Coach of the Year Award.

Oct. 30 – Livi Lawlor & Kayla Batchilder named to USPORTS All-Canadian Field Hockey Team.
