April 4th – Kennah Brant and Jase MacPherson selected to represent Team Atlantic at the 2024 National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in Grand Prairie, Alberta from May 4-12.
April 5th – Katie Baker (Field Hockey), Rickey Burns (5-Pin Bowling; Special Olympics), Dave Cameron (Hockey), Ray Moore (Rugby), and the 1969-70 Charlottetown Islanders (Hockey) are inducted into the PEI Sports Hall of Fame.
April 5th – Cam Squires sets Cape Breton Eagles franchise record for points in a playoff series (4 goals, 7 assists in 5 games).
April 6th – Mike French officiates at the U-18 Women’s Pan American Softball Championship in Monterrey, Colombia.
April 7th – Alysha Corrigan and Team Canada’s Women’s Rugby 7s finish 6th overall at the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens with a 3-2 record.
April 7th – Natasha Perry officiates in the gold medal game at the U18 Women’s Hockey Atlantic Championships in Newfoundland.
April 7th – Kensington Wild win gold at the U18 Major Male Atlantic Hockey Championships. They compete at the Telus Cup National Championship beginning April 22nd.
April 7th – Eastern Stars win silver at the U18 Major Female Atlantic Hockey Championships.
April 7th – U16 Dukes win silver at the U16 Male Hockey Maritime Championships.
April 7th – Keely MacGrath wins a U17 61 kg bronze medal at the 2024 Canadian Wrestling Championships in Mississauga.
April 7th – Squash PEI hosted the 2024 Atlantic Squash tournament, PEI results included: Mike Buchanan (1st place Mixed Div 1), Liam Jinks (2nd place Mixed Div 1), Alex MacBain (1st place Mixed Div 3), Joel Blouin (2nd place Mixed Div 5), Luciana Davila (2nd place Women’s Div 1), Sam Lawther (3rd place Women’s Div 1), Tess Miller (1st place Women’s Div 2), Seana Evans Renaud (3rd place Women’s Div 2), Kate Doyle (1st place Women’s Div 3), Brielle MacLean (1st place Jr Girls), Chris Mills (2nd place Masters 50+ Div), Jeremy Stiles (3rd place Masters 50+ Div).
April 7th – John Ikpotokin competes at the All-Atlantic Basketball Game in Halifax.
April 10th – Jess Cameron (assistant coach) and Megan Drouin (athletic therapist) named to Team Atlantic for the National U18 Women’s Championship.
April 11th – Gardiner MacDougall named Head Coach for Team Canada’s U18 Men’s World Championship team.
April 11th – Duncan Crawford coaches at the Pan Am Archery Championships in Medellin, Columbia.
April 11th – Keegan Crawford named to Canada’s U18 Compound Archery team for the 2024 Youth and Masters Pan American Championships in El Salvador May 6-12.
April 13th – Summerside Western Capitals win the MHL South Division, advancing to the championship series against the Miramichi Timberwolves.
April 14th – U14 Wave wins gold at Eastern Canadian Ringette Championships in Charlottetown. They are the first PEI team to ever win gold in the U14 division.
April 14th – At the 2024 Atlantic Canada Skating Championships, Peilin (Penny) Song wins bronze in the Juvenile U12 division. Yangman (Emma) Li wins bronze in the Star 5 U10 division.
April 15th – PEI runners race at the 2024 Boston Marathon. Darren Chaisson (3:24:02), Amber MacLeod (3:25:52), Brock Vickerson (3:32:21), Kristy Newson (3:32:50), Kevin MacIsaac (3:34:21), Maribeth Vos (3:41:09), Maureen Peters (3:51:45), Francis Fagan (4:06:47, 26th in the 70-74 age division), and Beverley Walsh (4:16:27) all completed the 42.2 km course.
April 16th – Mark Quinn returns for a second cycle as Head Coach of Softball Canada’s U18 National team. Mark will look to build on last year’s successes that saw Canada capture bronze medals at the Pan American Championship and the WBSC World Cup.
April 18th – Grant Boswell and Tyler Jay named equipment managers to Team Canada for 2024 World Para Hockey Championships.
April 20th – At the Eastern Canadian Judo Championships, Jessie Bryant-Hunter wins gold in the U18 -90kg division and Hikaru Wells wins bronze in the U18 -55kg division.
April 21st – U15 Central Storm win gold at the U15 AAA Female Atlantic Hockey Championships in North Rustico.
April 21st – Alex Newson and the U16 Kia Nurse Elite finish with 3 wins and 2 losses at the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League event in Virginia.
April 21st – U13 Central Storm Black win silver at the U13 AAA Female Atlantic Hockey Championships in Dieppe.
April 21st – U13 Pownal Red Devils win bronze at the U13 AAA Male Atlantic Hockey Championships in Edmundston.
April 21st – At the Eastern Canadian Judo championships, Makoto Wells wins bronze in the U12 Group 1 division. Levi MacGrath wins silver in the U12 Group 3 division. Jase Suyom wins gold in the U12 Group 5 division. Edwin Campbell wins gold in the U12 Group 8 division.
April 21st – At the Eastern Canadian Judo championships, Keely MacGrath wins bronze in the U16 -63kg division. Hikaru Wells wins bronze in the U16 -50kg division. George Madumba wins bronze in the Senior -90kg division.
April 21st – At the 2024 Atlantic Archery championships, Keegan Crawford wins gold in the Men’s Compound category. Chris Doucette wins gold in the Men’s Recurve category. Jamie Morse wins silver and Derek Morse wins bronze in the Men’s Barebow category. Isabella Doucette wins silver in the Women’s Recurve category. Gurjatinder Singh wins silver in the Men’s Compound category.
April 21st – Blake Vandervelden, Daniel Collins, Kyle MacPhail and Jack MacKinnon officiate the Male U15 AAA Atlantic Hockey Championships Gold medal game in Montague.
April 21st – Natasha Perry, Winter Walsh, Karli Snow and Ellen Dixon officiate the Female U15 AAA Atlantic Hockey Championships Gold medal game in North Rustico.
April 21st – Alex Gaudet, Mike Kiley, Zack O’Meara and Alex Costain officiate the Male U15 AAA Atlantic Hockey Championships Bronze medal game in Montague.
April 21st – Jennifer Stewart, Lexie McDonald, Haven Woodside and Tannis Duffy officiate the Female U15 AAA Atlantic Hockey Championships Bronze medal game in North Rustico.
April 22nd – Brooke MacArthur competes for Judo Canada’s national Cadet team at the Pan American Judo championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
April 22nd – Yolanda Pang (U14 & U16) and Don Zhang (U18) represent PEI at Tennis Canada Nationals.
April 26th – Morgan Ellis wins the DEL (Germany) Hockey league title with Eisbären Berlin, his 2nd with the team. Morgan recorded 21 points in 51 games played this season.
April 28th – Zach Clinton, Jackson Batchilder, Declan MacLauchlan, Rowan Walsh and Coach Rebecca Babiak represent PEI at the QMJHL cup.
April 28th – Zoe Olscamp (1st team All-atlantic), Alex Newson (2nd team All-atlantic, All star game MVP), and Naomi Ikpotokin, compete at the Atlantic Canada All-Star Basketball games.
