About the speaker:
Academically, George completed a Master’s in Sport Psychology from Memorial University (2006), PhD in Exercise Psychology from the University of Toronto (2015) and a Post-Doctoral fellowship at Toronto’s Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (2017). Athletically, his sport was basketball. His playing experiences reached the provincial (1998-2001, NL Teams) and university levels (2002-2004, Sea-Hawks). From 2004 onwards, George coached on several basketball teams in NL across the high school and provincial levels, and also a year with the Sea-Hawks Women’s Basketball team as lead assistant when the team won its last Atlantic University Sport championship (2007-2008). Most recently, he has been providing Mental Health & Resilience training for several teams including the Memorial Sea-Hawks basketball teams, Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association, the Canada Games NL Soccer teams, volleyball club/school teams, and individual athletes across different sports.
