Emma Jinks wins 3rd Canadian Junior Squash Championship
Congratulations Emma Jinks!
Emma Jinks is only beginning to scratch the surface in her young squash career, and her resume already reads 3-time Canadian Junior Squash Champion. The 15 year old daughter of Dawn and Lester Jinks from Stratford capped off an incredible season by winning another National title at the recent Canadian Junior Squash Championships in Markham, Ontario.
After narrowly getting by Bethany Churchill in a close five game semi-final match (5-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-9, 12-10), she would cap off a perfect 4-0 record weekend by defeating Mariam Mansoor in the U17 final by scores of 11-4, 11-6, 13-11.
For Jinks, this would mark the 3rd time in 4 years the young Islander is leaving the event a Canadian Champion. In 2013 she would win the U13 Championship in Richmond, British Columbia and last year the U15 title in Calgary, Alberta.
In February, Emma was the recipient of the 2015 Sport PEI Female Athlete of the Year award and is also a double winner at the 2015-2016 Squash PEI Awards Banquet, winning both the Female Athlete of the Year and Junior Female Athlete of the year.
