CORNWALL, PEI, March 14, 2024 — The students of Eliot River School’s Cool Kids Care group have demonstrated remarkable generosity and compassion through their recent charitable donation to KidSport PEI, gifting $363.99 from their February fundraiser.

Inspired by a desire to make a positive impact, the Cool Kids Care group has been fundraising this year by selling ice-cream each month. Each month the students in the group nominate charities that they would like to support and then vote to decide which one they will support. This month, the students voted for KidSport to be their charity of choice.

“The students talked about how important it was to help kids be able to play sports that were not able to financially,” said Ms. Angela Arsenault, the staff lead for the group, after a cheque presentation ceremony. “What’s really nice about the Cool Kids Care Club is that they choose the charities that they want to support and they do a vote.

“It’s really up to them what charity they support and they come to (teachers) and they tell us about what charities they want to put on our list and we are also able to go out into the community to do things for others.”

The donation made by the Kids Care group will go directly towards supporting KidSport PEI’s efforts to ensure that no PEI kid is ever left on the sidelines. This contribution will make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in their community.

“We are grateful to the students of Eliot River’s Kids Care group for their generous donation,” expressed Gemma Koughan, Executive Director at Sport PEI. “Their kindness and generosity will make a positive impact on the lives of many PEI youth.”

About KidSport PEI

KidSport PEI believes all PEI children should have the opportunity to experience the positive benefits that sport offers.

KidSport PEI helps remove the financial barriers that limit some children from participating in sport in PEI. Since 1997, KidSport PEI has helped over 11,000 children and distributed over $2,700,000 in funds so that they can play a season of sport. None of this would be possible without the tremendous support of our donors, sponsors and the Provincial government.
