50 Years of Sport PEI Awards – Lauren Lenentine

LtGovernor Award v1 (1)
The 2023 Sport PEI awards will be our 50th edition! To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to take time this year to look back at those who have received the Lieutenant Governor’s award as PEI’s top athlete of the year.

Lauren Lenentine – Curling – 2020

“The support provided by Sport PEI throughout my career has propelled me to where I am today. The island has produced so many world-class athletes, and to be recognized as the top island athlete in 2020 is an amazing honor.”

Lauren was awarded with the Lieutenant Governor’s award for 2020 after she won the Junior Female athlete of the year. Lauren was part of the Team Zacharias rink who won the Canadian Junior Curling championships and World Junior Curling Championships.

Team Zacharias would go on to play in the Scotties on two occasions, as a wild-card team (2021) and as the representative from Manitoba (2022). The team would then be joined by Jennifer Jones for the 2023 season, once again representing Manitoba at the Scotties, and winning a silver medal.
