50 Years of Sport PEI Awards – Jeff Ellsworth

LtGovernor Award - Jeff ellsworth

The 2023 Sport PEI awards will be our 50th edition! To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to take time this year to look back at those who have received the Lieutenant Governor’s award as PEI’s top athlete of the year.

Jeff Ellsworth – Softball – 2015

Jeff was named the Lieutenant Governor’s award winner in 2015 after captaining Team Canada to wins at the International Softball Federation (ISF) championship and a gold medal at the Pan Am games. Jeff also won the International Softball Congress (ISC) with the Hill United Chiefs and a silver medal at the Canadian Championships with the East Hants Mastodons.

Jeff has since coached at the Junior and Senior National level with Team Canada. Jeff has been a long time supporter and ambassador of KidSport PEI. Along with the support of the minor hockey team he was coaching, Jeff nominated KidSport PEI for the Chevy Good Deeds Cup, resulting in a $1000 award for KidSport so that more PEI kids could participate in sport. After returning home to PEI, he has spent time coach minor hockey and softball and has recently become the President of Softball PEI.
