50 Years of Sport PEI Awards – Brandon Gormley

LtGovernor Award - brandon gormley

The 2023 Sport PEI awards will be our 50th edition! To celebrate this milestone, we wanted to take time this year to look back at those who have received the Lieutenant Governor’s award as PEI’s top athlete of the year.

Brandon Gormley – Hockey 2011

Brandon received the Lieutenant Governor’s award for the 2011 season after winning bronze with Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships. Brandon was an assistant captain, named to the all-star team, and the tournament’s top defenseman. Just a few months later, Brandon would also lift the Memorial Cup with the Shawinigan Cataractes. Brandon has gone on to have a long professional hockey career, while also representing Canada at the Spengler Cup and the Olympics.
